Troop Zero
★★★ 1/2
Although quite unbelievable, it's hard not to be swept away by the wit and charm of Troop Zero. I absolutely loved the style and look of this film and it's hard not to be swept up by the nostalgia of simpler times of Georgia in the 1970s. The story is certainly peculiar and the acting ensemble really alleviates its importance. It's fun to see some of our best actresses (Viola Davis and Allison Janney) go head-to-head in scenes and Jim Gaffigan and Mike Epps provide solid character actor performances. The kiddos are cast really well also and are very memorable, but the movie lacks memorable scenes and bits of dialogue that make similar coming-of-age tales like The Sandlot so memorable. Still, this was a fun one to have just pop onto Amazon Prime out of nowhere and it was a movie with some substance that our whole family enjoyed.
