Unfrosted

Jerry Seinfeld, James Marsden, Thomas Lennon, Adrian Martinez, Bobby Moynihan, and Jack McBrayer in Unfrosted (2024)

★★★

I had really low expectations for Unfrosted. I've always been a big fan of Jerry Seinfeld, but after seeing the poor critical response, I decided to skip it. However, my teenage daughter watched it, loved it, and urged me to give it a chance. To my surprise, I found this movie pretty funny and a lot of fun to watch.

Now, is it the best comedy ever created? By far, it is not. But it reminded me a lot of a Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker film like Airplane! or The Naked Gun series. This is just pure, silly comedy, and it brought me back to how I used to watch these type of movies over and over.

The jokes come at you a mile a minute. Not all of them work, but when they do, they're pretty clever. This movie is also a who's who of celebrity sightings. The cameos are unreal. Not that a movie is worth seeing solely for its cameos, but this one might convince you otherwise, simply because it must have taken so much effort to get all these people involved. On my bingo card, I never thought I’d see Jerry Seinfeld, Christian Slater and Peter Dinklage sharing a scene together, but that's what this movie delivers. Additionally, this movie provides a reunion of two pivotal characters from arguably one of the best TV shows of the century.

Unfrosted defines the perfect Friday night movie after a long, exhausting week. If you're looking for a film that you don't have to think much about and just want to laugh, this is it. It's short and doesn't overstay its welcome. If you keep all this in mind and understand that this movie isn't trying to be serious in the least bit, you'll find it pretty enjoyable.
