You have to take the plausibility of this plot and stick on a shelf, because the whole concept of this film is ridiculous. But as a thirteen year-old who saw this movie when it came out, this movie was dream come to life. If you are a kid or teenager who loves sports, your dream is to play your favorite sport professionally.

We watched this with my girls and though they aren't baseball fans in the slightest, they stuck with this film. It's silly and goofy, but somehow, "Pitcher's got a big butt," and, "Funky butt loving!" still works. I completely forgot that John Candy and Gary Busey was in this film. Not their finer works, but director/actor Daniel Stern knows how to tap into the elements that make a sports/family film work. I still crack up every time when Henry (Thomas Ian Nicholas) is running home with the other base runner directly behind him. Classic...
