TINA

★★★★

I'm not extremely well-versed in music documentaries, so I don't have a whole lot to go off of, but TINA is extremely well-made. It's well thought out and does an amazing job of cobbling years of archive footage to tell Tina Turner's powerful story. You leave the film so happy for her and that wave of feeling is what propelled her to stardom in the '80s. There aren't many musicians, nonetheless women, who could start selling out stadiums in their 40's. My only gripe is that I wanted the documentary to explore more of the dynamics of her music of why she is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The documentary does a lot more showing and telling (we really don't even hear from the present Tina all that much), but there is no denying that she could have been inducted solely on her stage presence.
