★ ★★★

My first experience with Jackass was seeing the first movie in a packed theater in college. It was a visceral experience that I'll never forget. The place was rocking with laughter. I've seen the subsequential films and though I can't recall specific bits, you will always recall the experience that you have with the films. Whether it's disgust or hilarity, you'll always leave their movies wondering if your intelligence has been somewhat diminished.

Like Johnny Knoxville and his band of misfits, it's been twenty years since I had seen the original movie. In this movie, you get a sense from the original group that they are thinking, "Aren't we too old for this shit?" It's the same demeanor that I took while approaching this installment. Am I too old to find this entertaining? Turns out that I still have a teenager's sense of humor because I found Jackass Forever to be hilarious.

The group has done a good job of adding some younger members to its crew and I'm sure this is mainly in self-interest in fear of legitimate death. There is a certain level of glee that runs throughout that is hard to pinpoint in the other ones. I liken it to that feeling that I get when I hang out with old college buddies. We can just pick up where we left off, forget about everything else going on in our lives and just enjoy the moment. This is where Knoxville and his buddies are in life, and we get to reap the benefits. And unlike some of the other movies, I don't think I'll ever forget the grizzly bear stunt.
