Clifford the Big Red Dog

Jack Whitehall and Darby Camp in Clifford the Big Red Dog (2021)

★ ★★

For a family film, Clifford the Big Red Dog delivers. It was way better than I expected, but completely silly and forgettable at the same time. I think it's easy to overlook the complexity of the practical (destructive) effects with the CGI and as stupid as they were, they made me laugh. We thought that stand-up comedian Jack Whitehall is very charming and can certainly lead a film, but I can't help but wonder if he will regret this one being his first choice. We needed a film like this as a family after a long weekend day of being in the car and basketball games, so it perfectly fit our lazy evening. If you are looking for more than that, I'll question why you decided to watch this movie in the first place. Because you loved the Clifford books that much?
